Chapter 6.7 Logging of at Mantles and Inns

Mantles
Players can log off at skill, or rest themed mantles for stat bonuses when they return. The base buff is based on the level of complexity the sigil craft is, with additional bonuses on correct building and zoning placements. In your logged off screen, you will see an icon confirming a mantle buff. (Just in case there are a few nearby.) The selected buff is based on the closet radius you interacting with.

Log Off Buff Mechanics
You will retain your buffs for as long as you have logged off. So, if logged off for 8 hours, you will retain those buffs for the next 8 hour period. You can upkeep the buff by resting again, but they don’t stack, and will replace.

Example Mantles that will give log-in bonuses

  • Combat Sigil at barracks for combat

  • Forging sigil at forges for smithing

  • Fishing sigils near docks and ships for fishing

Mobile Mantles
Mantles can also be created on vehicles like carts, wagons, and ships. Your logged off sprite will follow the vehicle if it moves.

Inn Keeping
Buildings that meet the requirements can be marked as inns at the building's service counter. Inn rooms are special, they will buff all skills. Comfort items like beds, rugs, curtains and so forth will increase the strength of all skills. Inn keeprs can set room time limits, and can be players or NPC.

Being Accepted into a Room
When players, pay tinder they can go into their assigned room. The door they are assigned to will glow with a runic symbol. Players can place items in their room for storage. This allows players to aventure, and have a temporary storage. If you don't take your items out of a rental, in time before your rent is up, you can retrieve your items from a spitbox. Optionally, you can just immediately log off at an inn to get the log out buffs.

High Volume Room Usage
Since players log off and stack as fireflies, rooms can be used by many players with no overlap problem by giving the players low minute rentals (maybe 5 minutes.) Once the rental is over, the player will return to the main lobby, but the player will gain the buffs from the room based on how long they were logged off. When you log back on, your firefly will return to the main lobby automatically. (Or outside if something broke the game's ability to register a lobby, such as monster destruction.)

Room Styles
Players who stay logged in can technically overstay their welcome, they will be met with a warning message that their time is almost up, as thought text like, “My rental time is almost up.” When the time is up, they will get a thought text, “My rental time is up.” as well as a trespassing message, and that is a crime. (We’ll cover crime later.) The crime can be forgiven if they pay the additional balance based on their extra time stayed there, but can also be forcefully removed via one-sided PVP in claims, or can fend themselves in public unclaimed areas.

Lantern Rooms
To avoid any wait time, inns can create lantern rooms, where a player doesn't enter a room. They immediately turn into a firefly near a lantern elevator, and are then put inside an available lantern. These lanterns can fill up with an unlimited amount of players, shown as the firefly lights fading in and out in cycles.cThe renter returns to the lobby once they log back in. They gain buffs based on the lantern complexity.

NPC Quests
NPC innkeepers can ask players for more resources to upgrade their inn. If buildings/constructions in the way, they will recognize they cannot upgrade, and will stockpile the materials, waiting for when they can. They might even complain about it. Room(s)/the building will be closed for maintenance during reconstruction just like any NPC building change.

Never Leave Trait
A character challenge players can select is Never Leave, where your character doesn't turn into a firefly. This causes a player to retain their body form when logged off. Players that log off in a bed, will gain extra health, stamina, and mana buffs, as well as food and drink efficiency buffs that will last for as long as they stay rested. But have the same vulnerabilities as a corpse (for example, can be moved if in a public location.) Offline Nevers that overstay a rental, can be carried and thrown out, or placed somewhere else.
