Chapter 4.3 Crafting for Monsters
Defenses
Monsters can take their spirit needs destroying defenses through destruction if consumed. Including covers created for battle. Protected property destruction always satisfies spirit need. They will walk around obstacles if they aren't blocked, but will destroy defenses and buildings if it is in the way. Defenses can give mounted weapons more time to take affects.
Traps
Traps alone won't stop a monster, but can help hold them for some time, or inflict some damage, or distract them.
Offerings and Live Offerings
Altars give players an option to use their crafts, harvest, and trades as a means to clear a monster threat. A smith could offer their crafts. A trader their goods, and so forth. Live offerings, like sheep or cattle, blood will stain the altar, but can be cleaned up if players don’t like that aesthetic. Keeping it will leave a violent and savage appearance. Assets used for offerings get bonus appeasement if it matches the spirit value of the monster.
Defeating a Monster through Offerings
When a summoned monster gets fully satisfied through offerings, they will not create a nest, they will exit the world the way they came, through a summoning circle. However, if a nest already exists, they will return to their nest until the next threat cycle.
Offering Incomplete - Unsatisfied
If it the spirit value is not met, it will continue to consume player resources and construction to meet the difference, often destroying shrines and altars in the process to show their discontentment. They will leave to create a nest when the rest of their needs are met. However, they won't destroy as much, since they will have partial spirit needs met.
Live Offerings
Players can opt to give live offerings for a significant spirit boost to all offerings, and to bypass specific spirit needs by a monster. They will need to feed live offerings to keep them alive, if the plan is to leave them there for long. This is easily done with a feeding trough or bowl. Captured NPC, can also be used as live offerings. Players that have the right context in hybrid and PVP worlds, like criminals can be used as live offerings.
Monster Inventory
Eaten items will function similarly as discussed before with wildlife, where other players can loot these when they are defeated. their digestion cycles are based on threats, and their inventory limit is based on their tinder needs. (Larger monsters have larger inventories.) Monsters will mainly add stats and traits, each cycle before fully digesting it. Players can use these raw resources to craft more efficient weapons and equipment, or stick to collecting weapons and equipment.
Cycle 1 – Set A (Crafted Items), Set B (Empty)
The monster consumes Set A (offerings). Items receive initial stat buffs, especially in spirit categories aligned with the monster
If the monster is defeated before returning to its nest, it drops Set A with these buffs
If it returns to the nest, Set A receives additional stat buffs
Cycle 2 – Set A (Raw Resources), Set B (Crafted Items)
The monster consumes Set B (new offerings), applying buffs as before
Set A is now converted into raw resources, retaining previous buffs, plus additional buffs
Cycle 3 – Set A (Empty → For Next Set C), Set B (Raw Resources)
The monster consumes Set C (new offerings), granting the usual spirit-aligned buffs
Set A from two cycles ago is now fully digested and gone, freeing space
Set B becomes the new batch of raw resources, retaining previous buffs, plus additional buffs
The cycle repeats.
Appeasing Monsters
After appeasing monsters a few times, players will unlock the ability to craft monster altars. If players start burning resources as a form to appease monsters, they can start to align with the monster. As a player progresses in this faith based mechanic, eventually the monsters within that affected ecosystem will not attack the player (unless aggroed). Players eventually can construct thrones. In some instances, monsters can recruit them to fight for them. This mechanic is disabled in PVE Casual and PVE normal, but is available in different scales in Hybrid [Spirit Relics Core,] PVP Normal, and PVP hardcore.
